Welcome! I am glad you are interested in what makes therapy with me unique. I am a LMFT(licensed marriage and family therapist) educated and trained with a systems approach specializing in relationships, couples, marriage and individual therapy. We do not live in a vacuum. We humans are designed to connect with each other and protect to survive. The path in relationships, couples and marriage counseling is to grow knowledge about yourself, your partner and gain insight into the patterns of interaction that have been forged over time. Therapy with me will be filled with exploration, discovery, homework and active participation. I will help you attain skills and tools to build an effective partnership in your relationship. My job is to help you become a more effective partner and communicator to nurture the relationship you want to be in. Individual life experiences, such as trauma from childhood and in adulthood impact our everyday living and into relationships. We humans need to know we are wanted, needed and noticed by our loved ones, family, friends and to a degree at our place of employment. But if you do not notice yourself, then how can you know how you effect your environment and how the environment affect you? In individual therapy I am interactive and have an expectation the relationship we forge can create an environment for change. I expect you to do the homework as you expect me to help you achieve your goals. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, systems therapy, somatic therapy, practicing conscious awareness, positive psychology and curiosity among other modalities to achieve your goals and for you to know yourself better.
