Dr. Philips contracts with Wellness Psychological Services to offer services in our Tampa office as well as remote video services online across the state of Florida.
Hi! I am Dr. Kristin Phillips, a licensed psychologist with extensive experience in Health Psychology. I specialize in helping adults cope with chronic or life-limiting medical conditions, make positive health behavior changes, manage stress, adjust to new roles in life, and cope with grief or loss.
I have experience working with individuals who are living with cancer, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, spinal cord injury, obesity, women’s health issues, and aging-related concerns. In addition to working with patients, I have also worked with their providers and caregivers.
A common theme I have found among patients, loved ones, and providers is that a root of much of our distress is due to living with Uncertainty. For many of us, anxiety is often associated with thoughts about “whys” from the past and “what ifs” about the future.
To manage worry and cope with uncertainty, my approach to treatment is largely present-focused. I incorporate ACT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques to redirect one’s focus to living more fully in the present. I believe that “there is always something you can do to improve your quality of life!”
